3 Foods to Clear Morning Soreness and Stiffness

By October 29, 2018 No Comments

Have you ever gotten up in the morning and your body feels so stiff and sore? You are immediately reminded that the extra 3 miles you ran or the 30 minutes of yard work was not your greatest idea.

Fortunately, the 3 substances listed below can help allow your body to correct the issue.

The cause is what is known as “blood stagnation.” As the name implies, when body “pools” in a given area, pain, stiffness or discomfort is the end result. The goal is to move the blood and allow the inflammation to clear and the healing to occur.

Here are 3 ways:

  1. Foods high in antioxidants. Fresh fruits such as papaya, mango and pineapple along with dark green vegetables are great sources of antioxidants. They help heal tissue damage and move the blood, and thus clear inflammation.
  2. Omega-3s. The omega-3 fatty acids are also great ways to move the blood and clear the inflammation. They also directly impact the joints in a favorable way. Think salmon and deep water fish. You can also add walnuts and some seeds into the mix too.
  3. Herbs such as turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon.  These herbs are warming in nature and herbs that are warming in nature will move blood in an effective and safe way. (Spicy is the flavor that moves blood best.) Thus cooking with it or adding to soups or in tea form is highly recommended.
